Today was the last day of our trip so we wanted to see something technology related in Argentina. Lucky for us, there was an observatory 25 minutes down the road. We woke up at 9:00 a.m. so we could get to the observatory early and have time to have some fun later in the day. We had a quick breakfast, which pretty much meant we all grabbed a hotel muffin and hit the road. At 9:40 a.m. we arrived at Observatorio Astronomico (Technology).
When we arrived, we saw the observatory immediately and were surprised at how small it looked. We walked inside and realized it wasn't all that small. We also noticed that we were the only people there; we couldn't believe our luck! We saw that there were four telescopes. The employee working there told us that on a clear day we could see stars and galaxies much farther away then we could ever imagine. It had been a clear day so far and we were hoping it would stay that way because of all the things we could see through this thing was amazing. We thought it couldn't get any better when we saw this other machine, so we walked over to it and learned that it was a weather station that could reveal all the secrets about weather to us. While we were looking at this, we noticed that the forecast was showers later in the day so we were going to have to figure somewhere else to go later in the day. The storm was supposed to hit in 30 minutes so I suggested taking a 19 minute walk to the Alto Comahue mall to get some souvenirs. Everyone agreed so we started the walk. Just as the mall came into sight, it started to rain, so we took off running.
We made it into the mall soaked and breathing heavy and looked around at all the locals looking at us. Ryan bit his thumb looking at all them and we started to laugh, but none of the locals understood because it was an inside joke that went all the way back to when we were reading Romeo and Juliet in our freshman year of high-school. We started to walk around the mall exploring, just seeing if there was anything cool, but we soon realized how hungry we were and James said we should go to the food court. We went to Johnny B. Good's and all got massive burgers. They were one of the best I have ever had. After pigging out on the delicious burgers we still hadn't found any souvenirs. We eventually came across a hat shop and found a hat that said Neuquen on it and all got one. After we purchased our hats, we walked around the mall longer looking at all the cool things, but then Ryan blurted out, "Who is this Messi guy and why are his jerseys and face EVERYWHERE!" We had to explain to him that he was one of the greatest soccer players of all time and he's Argentinian. After his outburst all the locals were looking at us funny again and it was getting late so we decided to leave. We took the 21 minute ride back to the hotel and got back at 8:30 p.m. at night. We got back to the hotel tired and still a tad bit damp so we all took showers and went to bed.
