August 2, 2018 (James)

Finally, after almost a 13 hour flight, we made it. Our flight landed at 7:35 a.m. Because of the time change in Buenos Aires it was 9:35 a.m. local time. Ryan was so excited to finally be off a plane. We left the plane and went to get our bags. The airport was pretty far out of town. We needed to catch the bus into Buenos Aires, so we grabbed a quick breakfast at McDonald's. We just barely made it to our bus, but once we got on, we had a lot of time. The bus ride was two hours and 30 minutes. For most of the time we talked about what we would be doing in Argentina. John was really stoked for the food. He said he was ready to try anything they put in front of him. Ryan and I wanted to see some of the monuments. Buenos Aires has a lot of history. Towards the end of the bus ride John and I fell asleep. When we got close to the city, Ryan and Mason woke us up so we could see the city. The skyline was amazing. The city had so many tall
buildings. Image result for Buenos aires skyline.Image result for Buenos aires skyline
The sun reflected perfectly off the towers giving them a sparkling effect. We stared in awe. The bus ride was almost over, so we got our bags together. We arrived at the Wilton Hotel at 12:30 in the afternoon. We all were sharing one room with two beds. Ryan and John were in one bed and Mason and I were in the other. We got settled in to our hotel. The rooms were very nice for what we paid. The hotel also had a place to eat so we wouldn't have to go far if we were hungry. Also, the hotel was in a perfect spot because it was right in the center of the city. It would be very easy to get around. At 1:00 p.m., after settling in to our hotel, we hopped on a train and rode 15 minutes to the Manzana de las Luces (History). The Manzana de las Luces was Buenos Aires most important center of culture and learning and today the block still symbolizes education and enlightenment. This building is very important to the history of Buenos Aires because of the people like the Jesuits from Europe who used it. We got our tour at 1:30 p.m. for $50. On the tour we got to visit the Jesuits underground tunnel. No one really knows what the tunnel was used for but it was very large. If we didn't have the tour guide we could have gotten lost. There is also a very nice library in the building that has many books about the history of the country.
After the tour we were all a little hungry. Even though it was 2:30 p.m. it felt like 12:30 p.m. because of the time change so we were ready for lunch. Since we were in Argentina we were looking to eat something native. We found a place called La Estancia Palermo(Food) that wasn't too far away. We got on a train and traveled 20 minutes through the city getting a good view of Buenos Aires. We went in La Estancia Palermo and they were very American friendly. They even had English menus. After about five minutes we knew what we were getting. Ryan was very eager to get his food. Mason and I got pork with apple and potato and pear. John and Ryan got beef with potatoes in cream sauce, then crepes with caramel sauce. We all loved the food. It was similar to American food in some ways but also very different. We were sitting near a window and John looked over and saw a park. We decided to go to that park after eating. We got there and figured out it was called Eco Park. We read a little about it and found out that it used to be a zoo. We walked around for a little while just taking in Argentina. It started to get dark, so we decided we should get back to the hotel. We took a train back to the Wilton Hotel and went to our rooms. All of us were tired from the long day and decided to go to sleep. I had a lot of fun today and can't wait to check out more of Argentina.
